Oscar Cantu has over 28 years of distinguished law enforcement experience serving both the Dallas Police Department and Rowlett Police Department during his tenure. He recently retired as a Commander of the SWAT team and Lieutenant overseeing the Patrol Division. Oscar’s knowledge and expertise in his field is extensive and diverse, spanning across many areas and aspects of law enforcement to include narcotics, specialized/undercover units, tactical deployment and operations, patrol, criminal investigations, traffic, and background investigations. Additionally, he has been assigned to several task force groups and assisted numerous federal agencies including US Postal Inspectors, DEA, and Homeland Security, and well as his work alongside the Texas Rangers. During his career, Oscar has held many supervisory roles within the Rowlett Police Department, leading the Criminal Investigation Division and Narcotics Division, as well as the Patrol Division. Oscar also spent over 16 years on the SWAT team prior to retiring as the Commander over the unit. While a member of the SWAT team, he was responsible for the strategic development of all operational plans/procedures and execution strategies relating to the most dangerous and highest risk scenarios, such as warrant services, felony apprehensions, and barricaded subjects, in addition to his responsibility for the teams critical tactical training. Oscar is a certified background investigator and licensed police instructor. He is also a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) instructor. Oscar maintains a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M Commerce and is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) Command College for supervision.
